CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was killed and four other people -- including two police officers -- were hurt in a crash involving a squad car late Friday in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said.

The squad car and another vehicle carrying three people crashed about 11:30 p.m. near Harrison Street and Laramie Avenue, authorities said.

One person from the passenger car, a man in his 20s, was ejected from the wreckage and died at the scene, authorities said. Two other civilians from the same car were critically hurt and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The man's identity was withheld early Saturday pending notification of family, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Neither police officer involved in the crash suffered any life-threatening injuries, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. Both were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Details on what caused the crash were not yet known early Saturday.
