Cedar Hill Amber Alert ends in Indianapolis

Early Sunday morning Indianapolis, Indiana police found the gray Ford Expedition wanted in connection with the Amber Alert issued Friday by Cedar Hill police. A short time later, police and the FBI were able to locate the child taken from Cedar Hill and arrest the child's mother.

Police say 12 year old Sommer Brown was taken by her natural mother Lisa Brown from the child's front yard in Cedar Hill on Thursday.

The investigation came to a rapid conclusion early Sunday morning when an Indianapolis police officer on routine patrol spotted the Expedition behind a building on the city's eastside. The temporary licence plate had been removed and an effort was made to hide the vehicle's VIN number. The police report indicates the vehicle was full of used McDonald's food wrappers and empty McDonald's sacks. Indianapolis police contacted Cedar Hill and a Cedar Hill detective provided several addresses where Lisa Brown may be staying. Details of the arrest have not yet been made public.

Cedar Hill police spokesman Corky Brown says Sommer is safe and arrangements are being worked out to reunite the 12 year old with her father and stepmother.

The Amber Alert was issued Friday after police said the child's mother disappeared with the 12 year old.
