2 kids die after pulled from pool on Long Island

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Officials say two young siblings reported missing on New York's Long Island have died after they were pulled from a neighbor's pool.

Suffolk County police say a 911 call came in at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday to report that a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl went missing from their Naples Ave. home in Central Islip.

The children were identified as Ralph Knowles, 5, and Sharon Knowles, 7.

Police say officers searched the neighborhood and found the children in a pool on Half Mile Road.

The children were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance.

Hospital spokesman Edward Fraser said the children were pronounced dead. He did not give a cause of death, but said they were found at the bottom of the pool.

Police say the investigation continues.
