Metro area runners honor Boston Marathon bombing victims

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

The bombings in Boston have shaken the entire running community, and runners in the metro area gathered to show their support for the victims on Tuesday.

Some three dozen participants met at Big Peach Running Co. on Peachtree Road at 6:45 a.m. for a "Mile of Silence." At 7 a.m. the event began, and was done in silence to honor the victims in the Boston Marathon bombings.

Some of the runners say they're angry, and want to take back their sport. They say they won't be held hostage by the horrible tragedy in Boston, and they say it's just not going to prevent them from doing what they love.

Many of the participating runners have run the Boston Marathon, have dreamed of running it or know somebody who has run it. The tragic event really hit home for many of these people.
