Letter tainted with Ricin or poison sent to Senator Roger Wicker

Posted: Updated:

The Senate post office will most likely remain closed for the rest of the week after a letter sent to Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker tested positive for Ricin.

The letter was caught in an off-site mail screening facility and there is no evidence of ricin contamination in the Capitol.

The envelope was postmarked in Memphis and had no suspicious markings or return address.

No details have been released on the letter's content.

Ricin is a poison that can be deadly if swallowed or inhaled.

Wicker is a conservative, a strong gun right's advocate and has been openly critical of the democrat's budget process.

The FBI and Capitol police are checking to see if other letters were mailed to any other members of congress.
