Irving ISD custodian impregnates 14-year-old girl, pills end pregnancy

Posted: Updated:

Irving police are investigating a baby's death that led to the arrest of an Irving ISD custodian.

Mauricio Hernandez has been charged with aggravated sexual assault for allegedly getting a 14-year-old girl pregnant and then giving her pills that resulted in the death of her baby.

She told police she took two pills on Friday and one Saturday because Hernandez told her they would help her feel better.

The 14-year-old gave birth to the child in a portable bathroom at an Irving soccer field.

Police found out about the assault when the young girl was hospitalized over the weekend with bleeding. During her hospitalization she revealed she had been assaulted, had been pregnant and had given birth.

Police say the girl told them she had been having sex with the suspect since she was 13-years-old.

FOX 4 knows the relationship of the alleged victim to the suspect in this case, but to protect the accuser's identity, we are not revealing what that relationship is.

Hernandez is in custody, and could face capital murder for allegedly giving the 14-year-old girl pills to abort the child.
