Officer Karen Bartuch on Chicago violence, CPS students skip PSAE to protest: Chat Room

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On Wednesday's Chat Room, Sun-Times Splash Editor Susanna Negovan and lifestyle consultant Rochelle Trotter discussed Chicago violence and safety with Officer Karen Bartuch, CPS student protesters skipping the PSAE and a poor opinion of our city.

SWAT-trained Bartuch has served on the Mobile Tac Force, fighting crime in Chicago's most violent neighborhoods. She gave some insight to how prepared the city is for terror attacks like the Boston Marathon bombing, and spoke on one of local law enforcement's biggest concerns: home-grown terrorists.

Bartuch also spoke on the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy that took place blocks away from President Obama's South Side home, as well as a Chicago woman who was arrested nearly 400 times since the 1970's.

The ladies also discussed CPS students skipping PSAE standardized testing to protest school closings, a New York Times writer's opinion of Chicago and the public's reaction to her piece.
