Special Olympians compete in Arizona Summer Games

MESA, Ariz. -

Over 1,300 Special Olympics athletes are competing in the Arizona Summer Games 2013 on Saturday.

Athletes will compete in track and field, tennis, powerlifting and volleyball at Mesa Community College. Kayaking competitions will be at Tempe Town Lake.

The games started on Thursday and there was an Olympic-style Opening Ceremony with a parade of athletes, torch run and DJ/Dance on Friday night.

Saturday's first events start at 5 p.m.; all events should end by 10:30 p.m.
