A Good Samaritan was nearly killed while trying to stop a wrong-way driver. Witnesses said the driver of the car appeared to be drunk. Witnesses said the driver took off in a gray or dark blue Ford F150 or possibly a Chevy Silverado.
Police said they're still searching for the driver who was heading north on southbound 360 and made a U-turn in the middle of the highway. When John Woods, 34, pulled up next to the truck a few minutes later and saw the driver slumped over in his seat, he jumped out of his car and ran to the truck.
"I remember going into his vehicle to get his keys because he was passed out. Right when I get in the window he floors it." said John Woods. He spoke only to FOX 4 News.
Woods ended up in the ICU after the incident in Grand Prairie. He had bleeding in the brain, a punctured lung, cracked ribs, a broken neck and a fractured collarbone.
He was eventually thrown from the truck and the driver took off. Woods landed 40 feet away in the median.
Grand Prairie police said if he's caught, he could face aggravated assault charges.
