Nassau cops warn of attempted abductions

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Parents and students in Bellmore and Merrick, Long Island, are feeling on edge because police say there have been 10 reported incidents of attempted luring so far. Police are concerned that the next time this guy tries to lure a child he could be successful.

Nassau County police released a sketch of a man connected to almost a dozen stranger danger incidents throughout Bellmore and Merrick. Cops are investigating 10 incidents of kids almost being abducted at various long island schools since April 3. Police say in some incidents the man is on foot and tries to grab the student on his way home. In another he waves the kids towards his car.

Fortunately in every incident, the would-be victims run.

Police are pulling out all the stops to try to catch the predator, using license plate-reading technology, putting up posters alerting the community, and stepping up patrols.

But most importantly police say that if you see something, say something.
