A middle school girl told Dallas police she was sexually assaulted at school.
Around 5 p.m. Monday evening, the girl walked from Thomas A. Edison Middle School in West Dallas to a nearby daycare. The 12-year-old appeared dazed, but was able to tell workers at Katie's Little Angels Learning Center what happened.
They say she told them she was at Edison for after school activities, when an armed man wearing a black mask raped her in the school bathroom.
"Her pants was torn, it was like hanging a little bit. She was crying," Donnetta Deckart, Katie's Little Angels Learning Center employee, said. "For a long time she wouldn't just say right then what was going on. I was like what's wrong, what's wrong, and she finally said it."
Dallas police responded and an ambulance took the girl to Children's Medical Center. Her mom showed up to the daycare and was so upset that a worker had to drive her to the hospital.
"I had to send my driver to drive her to the hospital because she was in no shape to drive," Michelle Brown, Katie's Little Angels Learning Center owner, said.
Dallas police have not said if they're looking for a rapist.
A Dallas ISD spokesperson says it's looking at the security cameras inside the school for any evidence.
