North Richland Hills investigators announced Thursday a missing 14-year-old girl has been found safe in Mexico with a man she may have met online.
Ruby Contreras, 14, and Stephen Andrew Cox, 26, were traveling together when they were found by Mexican authorities.
North Richland Hills police are working with Mexican officials to get Contreras back to her family and have charges filed against Cox.
Contreras met up with Cox on April 24th, police said. Police say the accused child sex predator lured her away. She went to school but never came home.
A photo released on Wednesday is from a surveillance camera at an Abilene convenience store taken as the two made their way to El Paso via a Greyhound bus.
Court records show Cox was scheduled to go on trial next week in Ohio for sexual assault of a child.
In a similar case, police said, he lured a Pennsylvania teenager he met on the Internet to Ohio.
Police said Cox was out on bond, cut off his ankle monitor and left for Texas.
Investigators said there was no vehicle description so it was not elevated to the official Amber Alert after Contreras went missing.
