Man pretends to be Sears employee, cons woman

Posted: Updated:

A local woman is upset after being conned by a man pretending to be a Sears employee at Northeast Mall in Hurst.

Pamela James said the man told her the size and brand of TVs the department store was allegedly selling on sale.

"On the paper he told me what size, the name, he said Sony flat screen LCD, He said they're letting them go 250," James said.

She gave the man $750 in cash and he went into the store and brought out a receipt.

James then waited in her car for someone to bring out the electronics, but they never came.

She found out from managers at the Sears she had been scammed.

Police are investigating that incident and a similar one at another store in Irving.
