NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A man tossed a rock through a glass door of a Getty gas station in Cortlandt, N.Y., and then stole packs of cigarettes from the shelves, the State Police said.

State troopers arrested Roy Guzik, 47, of Peekskill, N.Y., early Monday after an alarm sounded at the gas station, authorities said.

The owner of the gas station said that his security camera system, which transmits video from the store to his home, showed the suspect breaking into the shop and then leaving with the stolen smokes.

Police charged Guzik with third-degree burglary. He was arraigned, released, and ordered back to court on May 20, police said.

Original state troopers' graves get new markers

A gravestone has been dedicated at the previously unmarked burial plot of one of New York's original state troopers. Retired state police Sgt. Kevin Kailbourne of Wellsville has been leading an effort to mark the graves of every state trooper, including the originals. They were known as "campmen" because they were trained at a National Guard camp outside Syracuse after the law enforcement agency was created in 1917.
