A man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend has been found guilty by a Tarrant County jury and will spend life in prison.
Eugene Esters was accused of shooting to death his estranged girlfriend Jennifer Johnson, 33, and shooting and injuring her mother in December 2011 outside her Ft. Worth town home.
Jennifer Johnson was the sister of NFL player Chris Johnson.
Esters had agreed to a plea deal that would have had him in prison for 55 years, but he unexpectedly rejected the deal on Monday. That triggered this week's trial, which lasted two days.
