Dallas Police are investigating the murder of a woman and investigators say her son confessed to killing her. Gonzalo Lopez, 25, is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $750,000 bond for allegedly placing his mother in a wrestling hold and choking her to death on Saturday.
Officers found out about the attack in the Redbird area of Dallas because Isabel Lopez called a friend in Oklahoma while she was being attacked and that friend called 911. A police arrest affidavit says Gonzalo admitted to killing his mother saying "I choked my mom" and also said "I think she's dead" or "I killed her."
The affidavit also says Gonzalo "Tied his mother's hands with a television cable and wrapped another one around her neck several times in case she woke up."
Family members say Gonzalo was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia and had violent tendencies. Neighbors at the Rosemont at Timber Creek Apartments say they're stunned.
