Only On FOX: Woman Describes Mother's Day Attack, Robbery

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

"Somebody came from behind, grabbed me by the neck, slammed me down."

That's how Sharon Colluro described the Mother's Day attack and robbery that left her battered and shaken.

She wanted to spend Mother's Day with her children and new granddaughter. Instead, she spent it at a hospital and on the couch after she says she was attacked Sunday morning near the Frankford Transportation Center.

"I have a bruised collarbone, bruised shoulder blade and a sprained neck," she told FOX 29.

The 40-year-old had been approached by a man as she waited for her bus outside a Bensalem Wawa. He asked if she wanted a ride. She said no and boarded a bus to the Frankford terminal.

She got off the bus headed to her cousin's home near Bridge and Penn streets when she was attacked.

"He asked me for money, and 'I said all I really have is 35 cents in my back pocket,'" she explained. "He said, 'I want it.' ... It was the same guy at the bus."

Stunned and badly hurt, Colluro got to her feet. Her purse and cell phone were gone, so she got someone to call police.

"I was gonna come home and spend the day with my children and have fun," Colluro said. "I got a big empty space inside me."

Her daughter Carly says the attacker not only harmed her mother but spoiled Mother's Day.

"Her Mother's Day was ruined. She spent the morning of Mother's Day at the hospital because someone wants to act like an idiot," she said.

"Lock him up so he doesn't do this to somebody else," Colluro said. "It could have been an elderly person or a younger person. ... Something bad could have happened."

Colluro says the attacker fled down Penn Street and was driving a silver car. She hopes nearby surveillance cameras on buses here will help police track down her attacker.

One final note: Sharon did get to have dinner with her daughter to end Mother's Day.
