Kaufman Co. deputy thrown from squad car during pursuit

A Kaufman County Sheriff's Deputy was hospitalized after being ejected from his squad car during a pursuit.

Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, the deputy was trying to catch up to a speeder on Highway 175 near FM 2860, between Kemp and Kaufman.

At some point his back left tire blew out and his cruiser rolled four times.

A DPS trooper says the deputy was thrown from the vehicle, but was conscious when emergency crews arrived on the scene.

The deputy suffered non life-threatening injuries, but was taken to Parkland Hospital for further evaluation.
