Yorkie Mauled To Death Outside Old City Boutique

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Sadness is in the home of Katrina Fayne of Old City, Philadelphia.

"I lost my love, my grand dog," she said.  "I'm going to miss him sorely."

She told FOX 29 she was walking her daughter's Yorkie of 14 years named Sir Bailey, down North Second Street on Saturday when a much larger dog rushed out of the boutique they passed and attacked.

"As we approached the store "Never Too Spoiled," I kind of looked and I saw a dog in the doorway, and we just kept walking but the dog just ran out of the door and latched on to my dog."

She said the force actually pulled her down to the ground. She has bruises on her leg. She rushed Sir Bailey to the vet, but it was too late.

Philadelphia police said the attacking dog appeared to be a pit bull-mix, but the owner of the boutique said she believed it to be more of an American Bulldog mix.

She said the dog belongs to her daughter and both are devastated by the situation.

"This is going to hurt us too," said Rene Leaf. "It's going to scar us forever."

Police are investigating the incident and say the owner of the dog could be cited with a $300 fine.
