A wildfire that began burning out of control Monday night at Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County is 70 percent contained as of Tuesday evening.
Officials said there are approximately 50 firefighters containing the blaze that has burned 44 acres. No homes have been destroyed.
Winds have remained steady, which has prevented the fire from spreading.
Officials say the drought is to blame for this latest fire by the lake. The dry vegetation is easily sparked and can rapidly fuel wildfires.
A few residents were told to evacuate Monday night, but for the most part have been allowed back into their homes.
Firefighters were hoping for complete containment of the fire by the end of Tuesday.
