Dallas Fire Rescue first on scene of 3-alarm fire

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

Dallas Fire Rescue crews were able to quickly contain a 3-alarm fire in East Dallas Tuesday night. That's because they were the ones who called it in.

The fire broke out at an abandoned apartment building on Bryan Street and Bennett Avenue.

Crews just happened to be driving by and saw smoke.

"It was really unusual. In 30 years of doing this, this is the second time I've actually rolled up on a fire scene," said Captain Randy Sanders.

Firefighters say it looks like the flames started on the bottom floor and  spread to the second floor.

No one was injured.

Investigators are still looking for the cause.
