Woman shot in home in southeast Atlanta

ATLANTA -

Authorities say a woman is in the hospital after someone fired through the window of her home and shot her in the face.

Atlanta police say the shooting happened at a home on Clifton Road in southeast Atlanta at around 4 a.m. They say she was working on a puzzle when someone came up and shot through the window. She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The victim's daughter tells FOX 5 the bullet is lodged in her mother's mouth.

Police are investigating someone who previously dated the victim's granddaughter, and according to police, was making threats against the family.

"It was just general threats on the family itself. And again, was basically over a relationship. We don't know for certain if this will be the actual source, but because those threats were made, we have to look at those and see if those could be. We'll be looking at all angles on this investigation," said Captain Tim Peek of the Atlanta Police Department.

Investigators say they have no witnesses.
