Detroit gas station attack caught on video; suspect arrested

DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroit police have arrested a suspect after surveillance video captured a violent attack on a 64-year-old gas station customer.

Police say the victim was confronted by a man outside a gas station along the Lodge service drive on the city's northwest side Saturday morning. The victim ran back into the gas station and was followed by the man. Video shows a man stabbing and punching the victim while several onlookers stand by and watch.

We're told the victim is recovering in the hospital.

Police say the man dropped his knife and fled the location with an undisclosed amount of money.

We're told the DPD Headquarters Surveillance Unit located the suspect at an apartment building at Eight Mile and Lahser. He tried to escape from police by jumping out of a second story window.
