Convicted child predator wanted in Pa. arrested in Maricopa

John Paul Anderson John Paul Anderson

A child predator wanted in Pennsylvania was arrested by the U.S. Marshals in Maricopa on Tuesday.

Authorities say 47-year-old John Paul Anderson was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender and was considered one of Pennsylvania's "Most Wanted Megan's Law Offenders."

Anderson was convicted in Lawrence County, Pa., for aggravated indecent assault in 2005 and spent five years in prison. He had victimized a girl from the time she was 5-years-old until she was 8.

On Jan. 28, 2010, Anderson was released and placed on probation. As a convicted sex offender, Anderson is considered a sexually violent predator and is required by law to register as a sex offender for life.

In 2011, Anderson failed to register and Pennsylvania authorities put out a warrant for his arrest.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania believed Anderson may have fled to Arizona.

Arizona's U.S. Marshals used their information to track Anderson to a home near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road in Maricopa.

He was arrested Tuesday and because Anderson also failed to register as a sex offender in Arizona, he may face federal charges.
