Posted: Updated:

Irving police have arrested four people for having more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana.

It's estimated the marijuana has a street value of $1.6 million, according to an Irving police statement.

Police say they got an anonymous tip a U-Haul truck with narcotics was in the city limits.

After a search, police found the truck in a parking lot of a closed business on Irving Boulevard.

While police were monitoring the area, a vehicle dropped off a man who got in the truck and drove away. Police stopped the truck on a traffic violation and a police dog detected drugs during a walk around the vehicle.

Irving police say the cargo area of the truck had more than 100 cardboard boxes with marijuana wrapped in plastic and hidden inside each box.

The four men arrested are Laurencio Hernandez Jr., 44, Jose Alberto Flores, 25, Oscar Hernandez, 21, and Juan Luis Rangel, 36.

Each man faces a charge of possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds.
