Ft. Worth man convicted of beating tiny dog to death

Posted: Updated:

A jury has convicted a Fort Worth man accused of beating a tiny dog to death with a broom handle.

Michael Amos was found guilty late this afternoon after about two hours of deliberations.

Prosecutors say Amos repeatedly beat a six pound shih tzu because he was angry it went to the bathroom in the house.

Amos' lawyers argued the dog's death was an accident.

The punishment phase of the trial is next and Amos could be sentenced to as much as ten years in prison.
