Friends and family are mourning the death of a musically gifted local teen.
Red Oak High School senior DaJuan Ward died Tuesday afternoon in Mansfield when his vehicle veered off Highway 287 into a grass median and struck a pickup truck in a construction zone.
His friends say the 18-year-old had an unforgettable voice and a passion for performing.
"He was always ready to cheer someone up if they were down. He'd pull you aside in the hallway and just give you a hug. He was in choir and just love to be outgoing," said Dallas Butts, a classmate of Ward.
Police are investigating the crash and are trying to determine how he lost control of his car.
