Granbury residents return to what's left of their homes

Posted: Updated:

The E-F 4 Tornado that hit the Rancho Brazos subdivision in Granbury flattened that community last week and over the weekend residents were finally allowed to see the devastation that was left behind.

People in that community had a lot to take in; shredded trees, totaled cars and empty lots where homes once stood.

Linda Lou Wilson considers herself one of the lucky ones because she still has a house to pick through.  During the storm Wednesday, Wilson had just seconds to jump into her bathtub with her dog and cat before the tornado touched down.

"I could feel the house literally ripping away from me while I was in this bathtub," said Wilson.

Some residents have been staying with friends and relatives since the storms.  Others are staying at the American Red Cross Shelter at the Christ Church in Granbury.  19 people stayed at the shelter Saturday night.

About a hundred homes sustained damage, more than half of those were destroyed.
