JASPER COUNTY, Ga. -

A Jasper County teen was reunited with an EMT who helped save her life 13 years ago. FOX 5 viewers provided information that led Alyssa Haskew to the moment she's waited more than a decade for: to say thank you to Scott Thomas.

Haskew, 19, had been searching for the paramedic since he helped save her life when she was six years old.  Alyssa still has the scar from when she was pulled underneath her family's car after it was knocked out of gear.

"He stayed there with me, he held my hand when they sewed up my face," she told FOX 5 last week.

After the story aired,
Scott Thomas said that his phone started to ring off the hook.

"Everyone remembers the call because it tore me up a little bit," said Thomas.

Thomas is now a firefighter and paramedic in Butts County. He said that Tuesday's reunion is monumental.

"This sums up my whole career so far," Thomas said. "I'm glad that she could overcome her injuries and move forward and do all that she has done."

Thomas said that what makes this reunion even better is that it's EMS Appreciation Week, but he said that he doesn't feel like a hero.

"I don't feel like I'm a hero. I do what I do. God guides me through it," Thomas said.

"I'm glad he knows now that he's never been forgotten. After all these years, Ally's always remembered Scott," said Melissa Coursey, Alyssa's mother. "He's my guardian angel, my daughter's guardian angel. God was looking out for her that day and he was sitting on Scott's shoulder."

Thomas said that being remembered by Alyssa's family not only means a lot to him, but means a lot to his co-workers. He says they deserve just as much of the recognition.
