A man who drowned his own two sons was given the death penalty by a Dallas County jury on Thursday.
The jury deliberated for three hours before sentencing Naim Muhammad to death.
Muhammad, 34, had no reaction as the sentence was announced. His family, which had caused several outbursts during the trial, sat quietly during the reading of the verdict.
Muhammad was found guilty last week for capital murder in the drowning of his 5-year-old and 3-year-old sons in a creek in August 2011.
Muhammad said he killed his sons to get back at their mother for breaking up with him.
Muhammad's defense attorney tried to save his client's life during closing arguments on Thursday morning, telling jurors Muhammad "earned a life sentence, but done nothing to deserve a sentence of death."
