Child calls 911 after mother is shot in Dallas

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A child called 911 to report that her mother was shot several times Monday morning in their home near Love Field. Police arrested her common law husband. They say he's the one who pulled the trigger.

Dispatchers say the call came from a home in the 4000 block of Newmore. When officers arrived at the house, Yadira Zarazua, 30, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to Parkland Hospital in serious condition.

Roberto Flores, 30, is charged with aggravated assault. Dallas police arrested him four hours after the shooting occurred at 2:00 a.m. Monday.

Neighbors say they're shocked.

Merry Rodriguez lives next door to the couple. Her daughter plays with Roberto and Yadira's 9-year-old daughter. Rodriguez says she's worried and unsure of Yadira's condition and is hoping for a speedy recovery.

"I don't know what happened. The lady is very calm and the man as well.  It's a surprise what happened, no one would have expected this," said Rodriguez.

A family member tells FOX4 Yadira had surgery.

Police are not speculating on what a motive in the shooting may have been. They haven't said whether or not the couple's daughter witnessed the shooting.
