Suspect crashes stolen SUV into cars, house

Posted: Updated:

Atlanta police are investigating circumstances behind a bizarre incident.  They say a driver who was fleeing police crashed into several vehicles, and eventually a house.

It happened on Holmes Street, and it's a mess authorities are still trying to deal with.  Police say suspect in a stolen Toyota Rav-4 around 2 a.m. hit a speed bump, and then crashed into five cars and a house.

Several residents witnessed the crash.  Trisha Westbrook told FOX 5 the vehicle went airborne and hit a column over her carport, which caused holes in her kitchen.

"We opened the front door and what we saw was the back neighbor's car in the driveway where it should be, and then the neighbors over here, their car sideways swished up against a neighbor's car," Westbrook said.  "Then we looked out toward our cars and both of them were totaled."
One of Westbrook's neighbors, Corey McCauley, told FOX 5 the suspect got out of the car after it crashed, jumped a fence and tried to get away on foot. McCauley was on his porch when he saw police capture the suspect, who has been identified as 22-year-old Sedrick Scott, a short time later.

Scott faces a number of charges, including criminal property damage, interfering with government property, DUI, auto theft, and obstructing officers.  Police say he has a long criminal history.
