Michele Bachmann has been elected four times by her 6th congressional district. But last November it was by a slim margin -- just over 4,000 thousand votes separated her from Democratic challenger Jim Graves, leaving the district up for grabs next fall.
So what do the people of Minnesota's 6th think?
In our small, quick, highly-unscientific sampling, most are glad to see her go. That is, of those who even had a reaction at all.
It was surprising how many people had no opinion (or no interest in sharing it) on our quick jaunt through her oddly-shaped district, which wraps around from Washington County across the top of the metro to Stearns County.
ST. CLOUD REACTION
"I know it's a conservative district and I'm a conservative myself but it was so close last time. It would be really tough, I think, being she was so active in the Tea Party."
"She's an embarrassment to the district. The stuff that she says and things that she does, a lot of half-truths. Happy to have her out of there. I think a lot of people are."
BIG LAKE REACTION
"I don't really have that much of an opinion. I know a lot of people that I've talked to that follow politics are somewhat happy about it."
"I think it's terrible...I think she's good what she did."
"I think a little bit had gone a long ways with her."
"Honestly, politically I'm probably pretty aligned with her, but she was getting to the point where she was annoying me and I was having a hard time taking her seriously."
