Helicopter Day spotlights FOX 5 Storm Chaser

Posted: Updated:

The spotlight shown on the FOX 5 Storm Chaser Sunday as a star attraction at Helicopter Day in Marietta. The popular annual event brought in choppers from several agencies to the Marietta Museum of History's impressive Aviation Wing.

Crowds of excited fans and families got a chance to see the helicopters – retired aircraft – and vehicles, like the FOX 5 Storm Chaser, inside and out. Organizers said they couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.

Museum CEO & Founder Daniel O. Cox said, "I get the greatest pleasure watching children get off these helicopters with the expressions on their faces. They're just happy as they can be ... and I'm very pleased at the number of young people who are here. That's encouraging to me."

Blue Ridge Helicopters offered rides to Kennesaw Mountain during the event. The company offers chopper rides the first Saturday of every month from the museum's aviation wing.

And, even if you missed Helicopter Day, you can still check out the aircraft on display at the Marietta Museum of History's Aviation Wing. It's open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is located at 550 Perrin Road, near South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Road, in Marietta.
