Accident on I-35 service road in Dallas kills two

Posted: Updated:

A vehicle accident on the service road of Interstate 35 in Dallas on Wednesday morning killed two people.

Sheriff's officials said a Jeep Liberty was traveling southbound on I-35 around 6 a.m. when it lost control, drove through a double-legged exit sign before crashing to a stop.

Two males inside the vehicle were reportedly ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the male in the back seat was ejected and run over by another vehicle. The driver of that car returned to the scene and likely will not face any charges.

A female inside the car survived and was transported to Parkland Hospital for treatment with minor injuries and was later released.

The crash occurred near the Continental exit and triggered delays while authorities worked the scene during rush hour. The southbound service road was shutdown along with one lane of southbound I-35 traffic.

The woman inside the SUV told authorities the driver lost control of the vehicle trying to make the exit.
