Family and friends of a North Texas football player mourned his death and remembered his life at a vigil Saturday night.
Jaquis Jones died after going under and disappearing in Lewisville Lake for more than a half hour.
Firefighters eventually found the 17-year old and performed CPR but he later died at a hospital.
He went to the lake with friends to celebrate the end of the school year
He was a player on Carrollton's Newman Smith High School football team and was being targeted by major universities.
"He will be remembered as a light. He will be remembered as that .. as that .. unending energy that he bought ever single day--whether it is in the classroom, whether it is in the lunchroom, whether it is down here locker room or out of the football field in 100 degree heat in august-- he loved everything," said his coach Paul Ressa.
Besides being known as a good football player, Jones is also being remembered as a loving and considerate son.
