Police are investigating the death of a 67-year-old woman whose body was found in her southwest Arlington home.
Officers were dispatched to Signey Edwards' home in the 5300 block of Wild West Way Sunday night, because concerned family members reported they had not heard from her in a while.
The officers forced their way in and found Edwards' body inside with obvious signs of trauma.
Neighbors say Edwards lived alone and was like a grandmother to many in the area.
"It's a catastrophe to our neighborhood and to the lady, because she didn't deserve that she was a nice lady," Joe Simelaro said.
Police would not go into more detail about those signs of trauma, but said they suspect foul play.
"That's part of the investigation to see whether or not there was anything missing from the home. That will be an important element that will lead detectives possibly in the direction of a suspect. There was no sign of a break-in at the home, but again detectives are working through that process," said Tiara Ellis Richard with the Arlington Police Department.
Investigators are following up on leads. They do not believe the case is related to the death of Leona Swafford, an elderly woman who was killed carjacked and murdered just a few miles away last week. Her killer is still on the loose.
