Hometown Hero: Annie Bonner

Posted: Updated:

Annie Bonner is a native Texan who graduated from James Madison High School in south Dallas and is giving back to the community using her eye for manicures and pedicures.

For 51 years she has been giving manicures and pedicures. For 23 of those years she owned Polished Perfection Nails in Highland Park Village where her sister Pearlie Lee worked by her side.

When Annie retired from Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas, she knew that she'd volunteer with her church and stay active with her husband and family.

The mani/pedi is in her DNA and she decided to give back at the Arbrook Retirement Home in Arlington.

The female residents love bright colors on their fingers and they love talking to Annie. The men like manicures too and call their volunteer "fingers and toes."

She calls the senior citizens "young people" and says they share their lives with her and she shares hers with them. It helps to talk about the good times and the bad times...and then they're finished the fingertips look fabulous.
