Hair weave thefts costing Dallas shops thousands

Posted: Updated:

Hair weave thefts are on the rise in North Texas and costing local businesses tens of thousands of dollars.

Store owner Kyong Seal said thieves are targeting the best, top quality product available.

A hair heist at her southeast Dallas store was caught by surveillance cameras back in April.

The video showed the thieves going straight for the 100 percent human hair, worth $100 per package. The theft caused thousands of dollars in losses for the business.

Seal said the thefts have happened twice so far in 2013 and as many as ten times in 2012.

Dallas police are investigating those thefts and others at different stores.

Nearly $20,000 worth of human hair was stolen from King's Beauty Supply in January.
