CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Animal Care and Control officials are telling people in the northwest suburbs to be on the lookout after a rabid bat was found.

The discovery was made last week in the 1500 block of West Devon Avenue in Edgewater.

This brings the number of reported rabies cases in the state to eight this year. Officials say the peak of cases happen when bats are most active in August and they recommend getting rabies vaccinations for your pets.

They also warn; if you see a bat, do not touch it.
