Heartbreak after 7-year-old in wheelchair left out of class picture

Posted: Updated:

Heartbreak and confusion after a 7-year-old was placed off to the side of his second-grade class picture all because he is in a wheelchair.

It happened to Miles Ambridge at his New Westminster, British Columbia school.

In the photo, Miles is several feet away from the rest of the class and can be seen leaning toward the group, trying to get closer.

According to the DailyMailOnline, his mother Anna says Miles was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at 13 months - a genetic disease that attacks nerve cells in the spinal cord.

Father Don has demanded the class picture be retaken.

The school has yet to comment on the situation.

Miles' parents say they have decided not to show the picture to their son.
