Man arrested for DWI after hitting Carrollton house

Posted: Updated:

Homeowners in a Carrollton neighborhood are pleading with drivers to slow down and be careful after two incidents in the past week.

Both accidents - late Tuesday night and Saturday - involved suspected drunk drivers losing control and crashing into homes on the same winding street.

The houses are in Carrollton near the Dallas North Tollway and President George Bush Turnpike.

Police arrested the driver, 20-year-old John White, for suspicion of DWI. Police say the underage suspect hit two parked cars first, before slamming into the home.

Monica Perez and her cousin Patricia Portillo were watching movies late Tuesday night when she heard what sounded like an explosion.

The crash came from a the truck barreling into Perez's front bedroom. No one was in the room at the time and Monica's 12-year-old sister, who's in a wheelchair, was also out of harms way.

Vicki Barkley says another allegedly drunk driver took out a mailbox and slammed into her home on the same street, about a mile away, on Saturday. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries.
