Robbers use McDonald's drive-thru window

Posted: Updated:

They came in through the drive-thru window.

That's what suburban New York police are saying happened early Thursday during a robbery at a Long Island McDonald's.

Nassau County police say a driver ordered food at a McDonald's on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa about 3:51 a.m.

When the vehicle approached the window, the 20 year old female employee opened it and two men on foot, one armed with a handgun, forced their way through.

They ordered the woman and another 20-year-old female employee to the floor.

They stole an unknown amount of cash from the registers and an office safe.

The thieves escaped back through the window

Police described the robbers as black males, wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas covering their faces.  There was no description of the driver.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  Police say that all callers will remain anonymous.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
