Star Trek creator's remains headed to space

Posted: Updated:

The remains of the man who created Star Trek and the actor who played Scotty on the series are being sent to space.

The cremated remains of creator Gene Roddenberry, his wife and actor James Doohan will be launched into space in November 2014.

The service will be done by the memorial space flight company Celestis.

The remains plus other messages will be placed on a space craft with a solar sail and sent toward the sun.

A camera will be put on the craft and streamed live online.
