DALLAS -

A pedestrian was hit and killed by DART bus on EB I-30 at Buckner Blvd. Tuesday evening.

According to DART officials, this all happened between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. An Express DART bus was headed eastbound on I-30 in the HOV lane when two people tried to cross the HOV lane. The bus tried to avoid hitting them but ended up hitting both the man and woman. The man died at the scene. The woman was taken to Baylor hospital.

There were 40-45 people on the bus but no injuries have been reported. The DART bus was taking them to Lake Ray Hubbard Transit Center in Garland.

The names and age of the two pedestrians and the reason why they were trying to cross the eleven lanes are not known at this time.

DART officials want to warn that pedestrians should never cross a busy highway.

The speed limit is 60 MPH in the area they tried to cross.
