CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 53-year-old Northwest Side man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing a nearly 150-year-old violin worth about $100,000 from a woman at O'Hare International Airport.

Volodymyr Babiy worked with a company contracted to work at O'Hare when he allegedly stole the 1873 Remenyi Mihaly violin June 25, according to police. The violin is valued at approximately $100,000, police said.

The theft was caught on airport surveillance video, police said.

Officers got Babiy's consent to search his home in the 5800 block of West School Street and found the violin there. He admitted to taking the instrument and was charged Wednesday with the theft, police said.

Babiy, from Ukraine, was issued a $10,000 I-bond and will be released on his signature.
