PLANO, Texas -

A fatal wreck shut down a busy intersection in Plano early Friday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a Nissan Altima was either stopped or moving slowly at the intersection of the President George Bush Turnpike service road and Preston Road around 1:40 a.m. It was rear ended by an Infinity that was traveling at a high speed.

The driver in the Altima was killed. The driver in the Infinity tried to leave the scene on foot, but didn't get very far because of his or her injuries.

Officers found the driver about a mile away. That person was taken to the hospital and is facing charges.

The case is still under investigation. DPS is not yet sure if alcohol was involved.

No details about the identities of those involved have been released.
