A family in Emerson, NJ is at odds with at least one neighbor who says their tree house isn't an actual tree house but a small home.
The Tenebruso family of Washington Avenue built their daughter Kate a two floor tree house with swings, four windows and a full staircase.
But neighbor Joe Geronimo says it's an "eyesore" and his filed a complaint with the town's building department.
"We put it up last summer for Katie's eighth birthday. All the neighbor's love it. It's just one neighbor who has complained," said Paula Tenebruso.
The tree house is insured. It was reportedly built without a permit on wetlands owned by a now defunct developer.
"As far as I'm concerned, what they've done here is totally illegal," said Geronimo.
"We've always been friends for years up until Katie's second birthday. Ever since then, put in our addition, put in our hot tub, he's gone to the town to stop it. He's pretty unreasonable. He's been very angry," said Tenebruso.
