Mableton man killed in hit-and-run crash

MABLETON, Ga. -

Cobb County police hope to catch the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck 36-year-old Joshua Heath Chellew of Mableton as he walked along Mableton Parkway early Sunday.

It happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday, near Factory Shoals Road and Mableton Parkway. Cobb County police dispatched officers to the 6200 block of Mableton Parkway in response to a call concerning a person hit by a car.

Police said, "The vehicle, after striking the individual did not remain at the scene.  The only information available about the vehicle at this time is that it was possibly a small red vehicle."

Chellew was rushed by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Cobb County Police Department at (770) 499-3945.
