DALLAS -

A massive Dallas water main near White Rock Lake broke early Monday morning, flooding the area.

Crews worked frantically to stop the flow of water in the 2800 block of West Lawther Drive, near the old Fish Hatchery.

Witnesses who heard the 84 inch main rupture around 4:15 a.m. said it sounded like an explosion. It left a 30 foot hole in the street.

At least one car was flooded when it tried to drive through the water and several apartments on Winstead Drive were threatened.

The city of Dallas did not report any service outages.

There were no reports of injuries.
